I'm in the process of building a AHU M-TDI for my 16 Syncro DoKa. The IP will be a custom build from Giles, 205 nozzles and an IC. I'll be using a JX ex mani and a AAZ int mani. The exhaust will be 2.5" SS
I have a few different turbos a K03, a few different # K14, K26 and a T3.
At this point I leaning heavily towards a K14. The reason is this truck is kind of a heavy brute and I'd like to be generating boost down low. I'm not going for crazy HP figures but some nice usable torque. Is 20 psi reasonable to expect from a K14? The units I have all seem to have different part numbers from one another and would like to do a comparison. Can anyone recommend a good turbo resource for part numbers?
Thanks.
Rob
I'm not familiar with the GT15. What did it come standard on?
GT15 is on 1.9 TDI 90 (1Z).
K14 is more flower than GT15.
The 1544 is the stock 1Z turbo but Garrett only recommends it for up to 1.6l disp?!
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT15/GT1544_454082_2.htmSome folks are using the GT 1548 which still is only rated for up to 1.6l but the comp outlet is 14mm larger and the comp inlet is 4mm larger. the 1548 has the rectangular opening (T25)so is more compatible with the 4 bolt AAZ exhaust mani whereas the 1544 is the 3 bolt type.
G-pop shop recommended the 2056 or 2056v(VNT20?) which is rated for up to 2.0l disp and has the rectangular (T25)turbine inlet. G-Pop said they could massage the 1544 to flow slightly better than the 1548 for around 750$ but a new 2056 was 850$ so I just had them clean, rebuild and balance my 1544 and am going to contemplate the 2056v for awhile.
I have Sprint 520s and an 11mm mech IP and if there was an off the shelf mechanical controller for the VNT I'd do the 2056v.
Looks like I missed your single cab! That would have been perfect for what i want to do.
