Efficiency of the oem 1.6 CS intake
« on: March 26, 2009, 09:55:43 am »
Since i have taken out the 1.7 na for a 1.9 na i had to use the old intake manifold and filter. I welded  up the ports on the manifold to match the head "D" ports. What i would like to know is how efficient [or inefficient] the original manifold and air filter housing are. I know that the air filter itself can flow enough ,but for example can the intake runners flow enough for a 1.9 pulling to 5000-5500 rpms. I will be getting a Giles pump at some point soon, but don't want to spend money if i have other things that will restrict any gains the pump will want to give. BTW i am not in search of horsepower, only torque.
