RARE 1991 BMW 524 TD (5 spd man.) CHECK THIS OUT
« on: March 20, 2009, 11:16:37 am »
Hey guys I've been watching this one for a while and contacted the guy. He has reduced the price down from $6500 and is moving overseas. I think people are afraid to buy it 'cause it is a German import. Shouldn't be a problem getting parts for it. I would have to sell my Jetta to get this one but Im not done with it yet. This is a six cylinder rear wheel drive with 143hp, with a bit of tuning could be a very fun ride! Someone buy this thing, I wish I could.     http://victoria.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1025132788.html

I've seen this car at my buddies shop, very sweet. He figured it came over as a diplomatic transfer. They were doing some engine work & could get parts I believe through the beemer dealer. They were working on the IP & found the parts locally FWIW.

I talked to the guy today , it is still for sale strangely from Feb 2. The owner did quite a bit of work in the last few months starting with a $1000 + heater core,  immediately followed by a $4000 head gasket and valve job. Apparently the first caused the second. It took a while( 2 months) to gather the parts   to do the head. It also has a bit of rust in the usual spot for these cars. I am quite interested but concerned about it being an orphan vehicle. Lots of body parts available but virtually no engine stuff except from the dealer and not quickly at that. He has owned the car for 2 years. I may take a trip over this week to see it though. Cheers Dan
