85? mech TD into a 92 hyd na
« on: March 15, 2009, 10:17:29 pm »
So I got my engine today (my wife got it for me for xmas!  :D  ) it turns out its out of an earlier car than i thought. It aledgedly has only 60k miles on it-but its been sitting a long time (there was 1995 newspaper jammed into the turbo inlet! ) Ok-so I dont get away with a quick swap-gonna have to go thru somethings-the tranny + starter are still attached so I'm going to try to fire it.
Using the excellent FAQ section here, I figured out this is a solid lifter motor--and it has a KKK turbo on it and is a 5 speed. My guess is its an 85.
My car is a 92-power steering + AC. Will all the bracketry swap over?
What else do I have to worry about swapping things out? I see the water outlet (2 sensor) is different (no biggie)- also my stop solinoid is seperate from the pump.

 Any help will be apreciated.

 Ok-now that I think about it--its not the stop solenoid-so I'll rephrase:

theres a thingy I dont know what it is with a wire going to it on the front of the pump.

I just decoded the number on the trans--if the engine is the same date as the trans, its an 84.
