hey guys...
i've had my mk3 aaz for about 18motnhs now and put 65,000km on it so far.
its had the last 40,000 of that boosting to over 17psi, and now i see 22psi all the time.... i've finally set up the pump just nice so little smoke, just a haze, and lots of boost up tp 4000rpm. running a front mount as many of you know...
so, now i'm wondering just how long it will be before the k14 clags out.... given i change the oil every 5000km with a semi-synthetic, high quality diesel oil...any ideas? anyone else run a k-14 this hard (or harder?).
cheers
i run a 14 that has about 250000 plus miles and boost it from 15-20 psi still with little to no shaft play. It all depends on driving habits. make sure to let it cool down and use synthetic oil, little boost when cold. should last a long time.
cheers, always good to have som more data :-)
Got a kkk k14 on my peugeot and have ran it at 21-23psi for about 30k miles and still ok touch wood....
I dont drive the car flat out everywhere and it gets new oil every 4.5k miles...
i know someone running an old K14 with about 400,000km on it. the guy who sold him the turbo gave it for cheap because he thought it would die soon... almost two years later its still running strong and he drives a lot! he does use synthetic oil though. i think that is the key to long turbo life. regular dino oils coke up and wreck the turbo.
mmm...
well i wanna chuck it on the 1.6td when the time comes, maybe i'll just keep the new oil up to it until i pull it to swap in the t3....
