All right guys. In about a month we're having a big auto show at Tufts, where I go to school, just outside of Boston. Last year was a huge success, we got a huge turnout with a lot of serious cars including some Ferraris, Porsches, some sweet American muscle (draggers, Stangs, Vettes etc), Subarus, nice Euro cars, and of course some tuned import stuff. But there was NO DIESEL PRESENCE, VW or otherwise.
That is gonna change this year. I will be there of course, with my '85 745 TD (which is a 6-cylinder VW diesel D24T under the hood), but would love to get some more VW diesels and TDIs there as well, and also see some of the New England crowd that I haven't seen for the last couple years since I last went to a HO5G GTG. With the Audi diesels winning at Le Mans, we have to show people that our diesels can also haul more than just cargo on the street, too. :twisted:
Weather should be nice by then, there will be good food available, and we are even gonna have a burnout contest for anyone who wants to give it a try.... I think I am gonna enter my diesel van in that, spare the Volvo. :shock:
Anyway, it will definitely be a good time, and worth coming out for. Will be fun to surprise people who had no idea what a modified TD is capable of... Also will be a chance for people to check out the mighty and rare D24T, which I am slowly turning into a six-cylinder powerhouse. It's gonna eat gasser Volvo turbos for lunch when I'm done with it.

Hey everyone, this year the Tufts University car club will be having our third annual car show. It will be more or less the same format of last year but with a big addition we've been working for, a BURNOUT CONTEST!

Open at 12:00 PM
Car entry closes at 2 PM or when parking lot fills
Trophies around 2:30-3:00 PM
Price:
- Free to Spectate
- $10 dollars to Participate
- $5 if in pre-registered groups of 5 or more(e-mail me to pre-register)
- $5 if Tufts University Student/Faculty/Alumni(must present ID card)
Trophies:
We will be holding a popular vote for a variety of categories, a few best burnout awards, as well as some Tufts Auto club awards. These have not been finalized yet but the list will be updated in a few days.
Events:
This year we have finally gotten approval for a burnout competition! Enter your tire-smoker for some fun and prizes. More to come on this soon...
Food:
We will have food vendors at this event so no one will go hungry.
