Wow, that is a super nice piece,
but when I send Giles that kind of money, it will be for pump and injectors!
Then I'll need one of these!

you have to be kidding me. After working to put my turbo together this deal comes up and temps me. I would love to buy them both and sell one, but that is greedy. I keep telling myself I don't need one...or two. Somebody please get these soon.

Mr. Giles,
I was wondering if I drove my 1986 N/A Golf to your facility, could you install this onto my car? How much installed? I am on vacation next week, and If I can talk the wife into it, I could come up there next week.
My car is a bone stock 1.6 N/A. It needs one of these badly!
Do you have all the hardware to install one of these units onto my car?

i bet if you got yourself a TD intake it could be done, but i'm 100% positive that these turbo's were meant to be installed in a downward fashion, which will interfere with the rear engine mount. it can still be installed flipped up, but then you run into interference with the intake manifold. but that can be overcome by grinding etc. the problem is that the turbo will have to be clocked, but i'm sure Giles would be the man for that (extra $$$ though...) and then you also need to figure out a way to get it to work mechanically (it can be done, but theres quite a bit of fab work to be done). you could simply 'jam' the vanes in the open position, and the turbo will probably respond like like a regular T3/K24 in terms of lag and maybe pressure (with enough fueling).
i'd say double the price with all thats involved... or more?

Ok, thanks for the information. I am new to all this VW Diesel stuff, I guess I was under the impression that this was a turbo for the 1.6 engine. My bad....I'm still learning!

if this turbo is anything like my VNT, you cant re clock these bad boys. there are pins and rollers that need to be in certain places for the vanes to work. theres a round piece of metal that actuates all the vanes, and it sits on 3 rollers, and they sit on 3 pins. and they are spread apart just enough that you cant clock the turbo. maybe you could if you re clocked the whole damn vane assy?
