1.6 pump does not fit an 1.9 engine
« on: August 19, 2005, 04:52:19 pm »

My 1.9 pump was leaking diesel so I thought to replace it with a pump from a 1.6GTD SB engine I already had in my toolshed but apperently, that won't fit. The "nose of the 1.9 AAZ pump (on the left) is larger as you can see on the picture, to compensate that the offset of the wheel is different than the GTD wheel (shiny one), but when mounted it results in the pumpwheel to be not in line with the camshaft wheel. the belt runs about 3mm over the outside of the wheel.

So I bought a new gasketset and replaced the topcover on the AAZ pump with the GTD cover.

While at it a removed the unneeded spring that protects you from breaking the cable when the throttle cable is not tensioned right.. saves me fiddling too long with the darn springs when I pull the topcover off again when I fiddling with the governor to get it tuned properly :)
