intake manifold for a gtd

I've read some where on the net that the secret to have a nice power on the TD vag motors its a good intake manifold!
I wonder if exist some intake on the marcket or only we can make a home intake manifold

that and a good exhaust manifold/downpipe can give some very excellent results!

you can make your own to be like the gasser. get someone to build one. buy one. If you make your own it would be good to have an extra just in case you don't weld it all correctly...I am selling one in the for sale section hint hint  :lol:

From what I have heard the big downpipe and exhaust is a much better upgrade to start with just like jt has said. For big HP numbers though all here say to use a custom intake, so the #2 and #3 cylinders don't get more air than the other 2.

well, someone in  this forum has a 1y intake manifoltd in a 1.6td, it´s larger and it takes the air from the left, ( right and of the car).
And its got a cool design too   .

Will the N/A intake fit next to T3 to make a custom intake? Or will any intake fit next to a T3 with trapazoid mount? A K03 seems like it would fit with exh. manifold flipped, but would the downpipe be a problem in a MK1? I thought cut a N/A intake at the pipe merge into the airbox then weld a plenum tube on, but looks like no way with a T3 trap. mount.

the 1y manifold has you all can see, is not as narrow has the gtd one, so in order to make it fit in a gtd, you have to get a tdi exhaust manifold and adapt the gtd trapezoidal flange.It´s a very insteresting setup, I think there is a user in this forum that has a setup like this...

But there is always the passat tdi b4 (i think) manifold, as narrow as the gtd and is inlet is faced right.

ive got a gasser intake on my car. i think i actually gained more power from that then i did putting a big exhaust on it. its just like the intake from a 1Y engine. shaped just like it and everything. i ported it a bit too before i put it on also. they definently dont clear turbos without the proper manifolds and/or clearancing of the manifold.

What did you have to do for clearancing? Got any photos?

I don't have any photos, but I just put a gasser mani on my 1.6 head.

you have to grind around the ports on the exhaust mani so that the bottom of the flange looks like the top(tp clear around the intake ports)
and then you have to grind off the two ribs cast into the bottom of the manifold that go alongside the turbo mounting bolts.

after that, its a breeze, but you have to remember to bolt up the purbo before you install the manifold on the head, because the intake is in the way of getting the bolts for the turbo in.

the other issue I have run across is that by flipping the exhaust manifold it puts the intake for the turbo right in the way of the shifter linkage, so I will be doing some creative bending and reshaping to get it to work.

as close as i can tell, the DIGI 2 manifold im running is very similar in design to the passenger performance intake. its not shiny or tig welded, but it has nice big runners, and a big, open plenum on top. it works good.
