Found a DFP, from a 75hp 1.9td. Thanks for help all.
I have 2 possibilities in the works, mostly dependent on model.
Thanks forum, I hope to soon have a properly geared transmission.
Hi folks,
I need to buy a properly geared transmission for my 93 IDI 1.9 turbo diesel Golf (AAZ engine), originally it had an ATH 020 trans with (apparently, I didn't measure)
3.45-1.94-1.28-0.91-0.75 gearing.
I understand the CHD, DFP, CTN, CHU trans codes should mount/work and have very similar gearing but I haven't tried it/my knowledge is purely academic at this point.
I am open to paying for shipping from known members in Canada (border costs are high these days). While I don't have feedback here I have heatware.com feedback under MichaelPublic
I'm on Vancouver Island at 250 no tele 588 marketers 7275
ps. I do a lot of highway commuting now so the gasser transmission I have in is making the engine rev too high for my preference on the highway.
Michael, Please check your IM.
the CTN will require some modification, such as hydraulic clutch and i don't think the splines will match your current clutch (could be wrong)
and the cable shift thing... but all of that can be solved.
the CTN would probably be the best bet for you. the taller gearing will allow the car to operate closer to its torque range, which will give you more power to get up and go. but it is also the more costly choice...
I probably should have mentioned I've only done 1 transmission swap and all I have at the moment is a dirt driveway to work in. So the closer to original/bolt in replacement for an 020 ATH the better.
It's quite likely I'm not up to a hydraulic swap skills wise.
I will be more precise/clear in future.
Am I wrong thinking that swapping to cable clutch on the CTN is possible?
Cable shift mechanism I will include.
bump, can really use a transmission that will bolt in and doesn't require mechanical improvisation
My friend is selling a CHD (I think) from his 96 Golf. It will bolt in for you. I don't mind shipping it to you. You are looking at around $100 for shipping though.
