Injection pump troubles.
« on: March 02, 2009, 08:49:10 am »
Lately I have been having problems with my car running.....certain days it will be fine.....or it will be fine until it heats up....runs good, idles good. I did run into problems while driving that the car would not want to pull at all....it felt like the motor was shut down with lots of blue smoke.....then all of a sudden it would kick back in and pull great....then same thing again....and if I would let it idle it would die right away. This morning I started the car and it started with trouble...missing on at least one cylinder....but when I tried to drive it, it wouldnt want to. Cutting out and dieing. It will idle ok with the cold start pulled out, but once the cold start was pushed in it would die or idle very very low. There is a new filter on it, I did bleed the system, there is no air bubbles at all. Timing is set to 1.00mm, crank gear has dowel pins installed.
It will not idle but when I give it throttle it will run ok and then start to die.
Need some help asap. I will check the cable to the fuel cut off solenoid tomorrow.
Looking for comments.
Thanks, Mike

AAZ?

Are all the pump mounting bolts, including the brackets tight?

ya sorry it is a AAZ, and yes all the bolts are tight. I had that problem so now all the bolts are secured with threadlock.

I have dowel pins installed....it does wobble a tiny wee bit...but thats due to the worn harmonic balancer. I installed a new gear and bolt and there was no wear on the crank. Did all this 25k kms ago.
