85 Golf with ugly headlights and grille, WANT ROUND ONES!
« on: March 01, 2009, 12:59:34 pm »
I'd like to replace the ugly square headlights in my 85 golf with round ones and the grill also preferably like the 4 headlight 16 valve GTI grille.  I'll have to replace the headlights, grill, and radiator support but are there any places out there that sell these kits or do you just have to get lucky in the junk yard?

Those westy squares are becoming popular in some circles,..
they love those westy grills and rad supports in europe so don't toss it.

Maybe you could do some trading here or on the vortex.

If I had a mk2 golf or jetta, I'd be all over those lights and grille. Retro, baby! RETRO!  :D

I don't think the fenders need to be swappped along with this MK2 headlight swap.
Like they do on the MK1 headlight/core swaps.

mk2s only have 1 style of fender, well in North America anyways. You do not need to change your fenders

I made a straight trade with a guy, for a dual-round setup with E-code (H4 w/ city lamp) lights and core support for my Westy setup.  Actually, my wife saw the dual-round setup and liked it the best so it was her call.  :)

Looks great. One of my objectives on the 89, which has been sitting since I got the 2009.

Love the 2009, but miss driving the 89.
