just like the title says....I want a quick spooling turbo with a 200hp rating(give or take) I would go BB if there are some good suggestion?
I'm not very good at specing out turbos...
I want good usable power....my k26 is a little slow and laggy...I feel I could run something close in size to the K26 but go ball bearing so I can get a faster spool up?
thoughts?
suggestions??
opinions??
Maybe look into a saab 9000 mistu TD04? It's pretty quick spooling on the gasser...when the boost comes on (which is pretty low and quickly), it hits and pulls like crazy until the rev limiter.
I think it's good to 25 psi or so...I think if one wants to go higher, I think a larger compressor housing can be added. Also available fairly cheap.
Another option would be holsets. I think there are some smaller holsets out there that would work...otherwise, I think one can get reasonably small exhaust sides for hx30's? Maybe an hx30 with smaller hot side *might* be small enough for a diesel?
A saab friend of mine is doing 426whp with a hx30.
Maybe I'm just clueless but I don't think you will find anything unless you go with a big VNT, like a 22 or bigger.
i agree with the VNT comment. A turbo that is quick spooling and makes LOTS of boost (to support 200hp on a 1.9l engine? or 1.6... ) would have to be made surely by the gods.
Or have some sort of variable nozzle turbine... if only such technology existed! I'd go with a big freakin VNT.
ps. sweet jesus new turbos are pricey!
Holset HX27 or Schwitzer S1 / S1BG.
Many different variants, many of which support over 200 hp on a diesel engine.

yeah the VNT20 is good for around 180hp...witch is nice...but all the linkage and BS makes it less desirable to me...plus just plain locating a VNT turbo is not an easy task...
that's why I'm thinking a good Ball bearing turbo will be a my best bet..
thanks for all the help guys!!
I'm gonna wait and see what turbonetics has for my app...I sent them my build sheet on Monday.
their turbos are probably about the same price as the other I have seen listed...maybe even less.
I'm a turbonetics dealer so I should be able to get a pretty good pice on their ceramic BB turbo..
in the mean time I think I will look at the specs on the holset and schwitzer turbos...
thanks for all the suggestion!!
I know every body probably wants a 200hp quick spooling turbo for our cars!!!
maybe I am dreaming???
