Swirl chambers and head gaskets.

I just found a technical bulletin from Nov 1994 which states that on an AAZ when changing from a fiber HG to a metal one, the swirl chambers must be replaced. It then says to just knock out the old ones, clean the surface and tap in the new ones with a soft hammer    . After check how much it protrudes- spec being no more than .07 mm. If more replace, the head . I know it's all a bit silly, but i threw it out for anyone who may care. :cry:

This is really bizzare considering taking them out and not securing them back in seems to lead to the dreaded pre-chamber breakdance.

If i can find someone with a scanner,i will try, but it's basically what i said. Back in the day when we received it, me and the service manager [he had been a mechanic for 30 years] looked at each other and laughed.

when i had my old rabbits head off the pre chambers could be removed by blow compressed air in the chamber, the car still runs fine.
