Alot of great work in this beast! I actually found your video on youtube a long time ago and it's what made me kind of excited about my 1.6D. Is your 2.5" just a straight pipe or do you have any resonators/mufflers? You should definitely add this to the official exhaust note thread =http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=33076.0

This is probably my favorite sounding 1.6td ever.

Also what's the specs on your new slippers? 15x8 195s?

Thank you Rising!  I just added it to that thread.  Yep just 2.5" turbo back no mufflers or resonators...Give it that tractor sound haha.  The wheels are 15X8 axis og sans.  ET25.  The rubber bands on them are 165/45/15's less rolling resistance with skinny tires right? haha.  Once i have it running again i'll try and get another video on youtube or something!

Well that's certainly an easy sound to acheive haha. How is it at cruise? does it drone much at all? And what about the tone in person? I know mine sounds miserably tinny when I rev it up. But i'm running a stock exhaust. So thats pretty much why. But I'm really hoping when I install this turbo and run my exhaust the tinny goes away :) Else I may have to install a decent resonator to take off the rasp.

Where'd you find 165s?!! I just bought a set of tires for my 15x7's but all the 165s were out of stock everywhere. and I couldn't find a decent deal on anything smaller than a 195. But I got my 195-50 ziex 912's for 206 shipped all corners.

Anyway it's a good look. Next set I buy I'm going to stretch some if I can find any. . .

Damn it, i used to run 13X8 until the tires were impossible to find.  Hopefully they keep making the 165's for 15's maybe we will see them pop up again come summer.

Car isn't too bad cruising i've heard and been in much louder cars.  The turbo keeps it quiet.  Only time i find it's louder is when the windows down and i'm hot doggin the go pedal while accelerating like in the video.  Sound is deep for a 1.6l for sure.  And at idle the turbo spool is awesome, it really whistles driving through parking lots.  It gets some looks like wtf is in that car to people unfamiliar with them ha.

Before i did the TD engine the car was NA and it was not as much fun.  I through the turbo bits of the current TD onto the NA while i was rebuilding it.  Had alot of fun, way more go.  The turbo will awake the beast in the 1.6L believe me.

yeah let me know if you find any around for a decent deal. Maybe if we keep buying them demand will keep them in business!

Yeah man it seems lime a great sound. And I'm fairly certain my vnt is supposed to spool ridiculously fast once I get the control method hooked up. So I'm sure that'll sound pretty wicked cruising around parking lots haha.

Everyone makes these magical turbo devices sound so wonderful... I really need to get on that. Maybe I'll post up soon and see of I can get some of my problems worked out to get this thing running. I have a TD block and head... just not all the bits....

Little update. Still love this car!!

New intercooler installed this year out of a i believe a renault.

Fab'd up a new exhaust tip as i couldn't stand all the soot on the back of the car.

We're the 3 best friends.

I agree with the statement at the end of the video.  What happens when block of wood releases and car goes into garage not out?

Oh i agree it was pretty dumb.  Wheels were chocked on both sides, park brake on, and i oil'd the front front tires.  What can i say i like living on the dangerous side.

Stewardc- hahaha take your pick!
