is the i/p top the only difference between the eco and a reg t/d?i.e. i could swap pumps and everything else is the same or...swap tops from another pump? are internals,turbos,everything else the same?thanks i'm kinda new and need more power in my caddy.got a good price on a full eco swap but want to make sure o the differences. :lol:

The pump has a smaller rotor head. The turbo is smaller but spools quicker and is better for stop and go city driving in some people's opinion. I think there are other differences too like gear ratios, presence of a catalytic converter, etc. But basically the same.

Is timing it after the swap all that difficult?

timing it after swapping the pump? no different then timing it after a belt change :)

hoowever you put the pumo on it doesn't matter what position it sits in. as long as all the rest is timed correctly (cam, crank both at TDC) then timing the pump will be exactly the same.. rotate backwards with guage in until it stops, zero guage, then return the engine to TDC, and move the pump to get the desired timing you desire :lol:

I have a Golf -92 ECO TD

Putting a LDA-pump on it and connect that to the turbo - will that destroy the function of the catalytic converter?

Here in Sweden we have to test our cars each year for emissions.

eco diesel jettas sold in the US had an AVX code transmission with a 4.25 to 1 ring and pinion ratio. They really buzz at 65 mph. Find an ACH or AGS trans to replace it and sell the AVX to a racer. You'll probably profit off the deal.

Fit a de-cat pipe and then put the cat back on when it's time for the yearly inspection. After inspection, take the cat out once more...
