TDC crank question
« on: February 04, 2009, 11:49:05 pm »
Does the front keyway on the crankshaft point up when the crank is at TDC? I have a 1.5 in a Suzuki Samurai, the flywheel used for this swap is marked at TDC but doesn't put the keyway straight up, however on inspection of several 1.6 cranks the keyway is straight up at TDC. Looking at the 1.6 cranks, set like my 1.5, it puts the piston 3/16-1/8 inch down the hole.

I got the motor from the jy and the guy said it hadn't been ran in 3 years. I filled up the filter with ATF and ran it. Doesn't like to rev, won't idle no matter what I do, is hard starting even warmed up, and has no power. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You will need to find TDC by sticking a gauge down an injector hole, pulling the head (best), or pulling the oil pan and checking from the bottom. Any way you do it, you will need a dial gauge and holder. Precision is important for this so you can mark an accurate TDC on the flywheel.

I got most probs fix, seems I had a leak in my fuel line, mass amounts of air. Still soedn't like to rev though. Can I get a piece of wire through the pre cup?
