need help identifying an IP
« on: August 24, 2009, 05:44:39 am »
P/N on it is 0-460-494-182
I bought it believing its a 1.6 TD pump. and I'm wanting to replace my 92 ECO pump with this one.
But my ECO pump has longer "check valves" (I believe thats what they're called) those fittings on the back of the pump that the lines screw onto.
The pump I bought, well, those fittings are much shorter than the ones on my ECO pump.

I looked in the faq and found the listing of IP pump numbers but theonly info it provides is "VW - CY/JR engine" and that doesnt mean much to me.
Can anyone give more info on this pump number or why its outlet fittings are shorter than mine?
thanks!
The fleet
92 eco diesel (my driver turned project)
94 suburban (mine)
69 Chevelle 327 w/hillborn - resting nicely
89 Jetta coupe (sons 16v ABA head swap w/turbo and megasquirt - not run yet)
2000 jetta (other sons)
98 jetta (daughters)
2001 jetta tdi (girlfriends)
03 subaru outback (girlfrie

I'll take a photo of my ECO pump (in car) and the recently purchased Turbo-IP pump tonight if I can and post them.
I have not yet been able to read the numbers on my current ECO pump.

Photos are good. I've never seen anyone on-line have a full break down of that the part numbers mean beyond the plunger and a few other details.

You got the right pump. The Ecos have longer delivery valves then the TD pumps. You will need to either get TD injection lines, bend your lines or swap the complete delivery valve assemblies over from one pump to the other. The proceedure is outlined in the mk3 bentley. You will need new copper washers, any diesel should should be able to get them for you.

can anyone shed light on why the eco had the longer delivery valves? I thought they had check valves in them - so do the regular pumps have that as well?
I did get the lines with the pump BTW...
thanks!

I think the longer delivery valves work with the 2-stage injectors, for a smoother burn.

Except that the eco diesels have the exact same injectors as the regular TDs. I don't know why bosch did what they did ???
