The BOV is a redundant safety feature that relieves boost pressure if it exceeds 15 psi or so. It never operates during normal function and was eliminated with the ECO 1.6TD and 1.9TD motors. The wastegate on the other hand, regulates the boost pressure by allowing exhaust gases to bypass the turbine when boost pressure reaches the max desired boost. Closing the wastegate will allow boost pressure te reach whatever maximum is possible based on fueling and rpms.Blocking the BOV on an otherwise stock motor will do nothing. If, on the other hand, the wastegate has been adjusted/blocked, then the BOV will open and dump boost pressure any time it exceeds the BOVs opening pressure. Under those circumstances, blocking the BOV would prevent the dumping of boost and allow it to increase.Andrew

Think about it this way. They eliminated it on later models, as in - made it obsolete, not needed.
second opinion?
