Canadian model specs
« on: June 12, 2004, 06:25:54 am »
Does anyone know of a site that would give specs on VW/Audi models sold in Canada over the last 25 years or so? I've been electronicly rooting around in Canadian wrecking yards looking for donor engines. It would be a big help if I knew exactly what models and years were sold in Canada with 1.6 and 1.9 TIDI engines. :?:

'82 LandCruiser Diesel Conversion
4Cylinder 3B/KKKturbo/AudiIntercooler(gone, BNF)
'92 Dodge/Cummins D350 Getrag Dually
356 w/Quantum 1.6TD (73 mpg!)
'85 BMW 524td (Der Komisar)
'00 Jetta TDI 5spd

I have an incomplete table on my site:

http://scirocco.cs.uoguelph.ca/gtd/VW%20diesel%20engines.htm

Essentially it goes like this from a model perspective, (I'll conveniently ignore everything prior to '85)

1.6 NA (ME) motors can be found in Golf/Jetta 85-92
1.6 TD (MF) motors can be found in Jetta 85-92
1.6 ECO (1V) diesels cannot be found in Canadian models we did not get the 1Z motor here

1.9 ECO (AAZ) motors are in 91-95(?) Passat, 93-97 Golf/Jetta
1.9 TDI (1Z) motors are in 96-97 Passat
1.9 TDI (AHU) motors are in 98-99 A3 Jetta
1.9 TDI (ALH) motors are in 98+NB, 99+ A4 Jetta, Golf - not sure if these run through 2003 models or not.

Wow, so according to that chart, my 91 Ecodiesel is a 1.9? I always assumed it was a 1.6..no wonder I was getting confused when people would refer to my engine as an AAZ.

For Passat, I can confirm 93,94,95

They have the AAZ engine with an EGR and 1-stage injectors

91 jetta ecodiesel would be 1V

if anyone has a EcoDiesel AVX transmission lying around, I wouldn't mind one :)
