Is there any difference between them? My 1996 AAZ PS pump is puking its guts out & a new one is $230 with core return!! Are they DIY re-buildable? Gassers the same?? 1Z??
I'd increase your mpg and change the rack to manual ;-)

the manual rack conversion would probably cost near the same, and you would never have to worry about that fluid leaking, or the rack going (if the rack goes, its $$$$$) or the p/s pump blowing again. its not really that hard to turn the wheels either.
Non-assisted.. Too bad the mk2 non-assisted steering is so un-linear in its operation. I really don't like the way how it's light in the middle and then suddenly heavy when you turn the wheel a little bit.
I ordered a new AAZ PS pump for my 1.6 TD.
They are the same, but they have a different pulley. The AAZ one has a longer 'gap' between the pump body and the belt pulley.
It should work if you swap your lower belt pulley to an AAZ one too ( the one that's connected to the crank.
Anyone can confirm this?

 Mk2's are horrible things to drive untill the front camber and tracking are set up properly. The camber all goes wrong when the front struts are replaced, (unless its an earlier Mk2 which had cartridges), this also messes the tracking. Whatever you do get someone who actually knows what they are doing to set it all up properly, it will save a mint in tyre wear.
