WTB new or rebuilt 1.6 TD head
« on: January 12, 2009, 03:26:01 pm »
I'm looking to buy a new or rebuilt mechanical 1.6 TD head. Topline is out for the next 6 - 8 weeks and the only place that likely has one is a place I'd rather not support.

Still looking...

I prefer new but it looks like there is not one new (Proline) cylinder head in the country and won't be for 6 weeks or even as far out as April.

The company that I didn't want to do business with gave me yet another different answer in regards to what they sell and what they have in stock.

Do you have a bad head?
I'll bet I have a good core you could rebuild.

I *might* be able to pull one for you. It's buried under a large pile of snow still attached to the motor at the moment.
Message me if you are interested. Obviously not new but it is solid  lifter and turbo

Thanks guys - the Eco head up there would be hydraulic and not my first choice.

I think I'm gonna ship my head off to Rimco and see what they say - $55 for a simple surface.

I'll be back if it dosen't pan out.

The fabled "belt-sander resurface" isn't really the ticket.

Frank at Franks TDIs in Missouri knows his sh*t, but he's not the cheapest (not the most expensive either). But he can fix anything: warped, cracked, mangled, etc.

If nothing else, he's worth checking out.

Finding a good quality NEW head would be hard. The alloy quality is not the same for new heads as it is for OEM.
