WTB: Garrett T3 exhaust wheel/shaft
« on: January 06, 2009, 10:23:21 pm »
Looking for a turbine wheel/shaft from a Garrett T3. Of course must be in good condition.
Mine has grooves on the shaft where the bearing sits from dirt. I'll try to get some pics of what I mean.

Another pic. different lighting. Sorry, horrible camera.

It looks like one of the oil holes that got some water in on the shaft, and rusted. Can feel pitting. Would that cause a concern for lubrication?

That almost looks like the area on the bearing that has the grove in it, as in that area doest ever touch the shaft.
I wish you could get some better pics I cant really see crap through the blur :(
Anyway, if that area doesn't touch the bearing I'm not to sure it will cause a problem. Obviously replacing it would be best but I'm not sure (without seeing it better) it would be an absolute necessity.

I have a spare T3 shaft around. I'll need to check if its a stock IDI TD T3 unit or a .48 merc. unit...shaft should be the same either way. I'd have the whole assembly actually *shaft, intake side turbine and of course exhaust turbine...

If you're still looking, I have a T3 minus the turbine housing and a turbo city rebuild kit (new in the box) which I'll be parting with.
