well after blowing my HG, i got a 1.9 MLS and modified it to fit on my 1.6 mechanical head. everything went well. retorqued it, no leaks, have boosted up to 20 psi and sustained egt's of 1200. i have about 20 miles on it. old gasket is blown in 5 places, lol, will post pics later.
only problem is that my brand new pump "built" pump is screwing up, i turned the fuel up 1/2 a turn from where the shop set it, and now when u rev it, it sticks, and stays revving. not very happy about this, and its not turned up high, because there is barely any smoke and i didnt even have to bring my idle down, i am very disappointed with the shop that built my pump, this is the 4th problem i have had with it, and its still not right, i have taken it back to them every time, ive had a problem and they tried to CHARGE me for fixing my pump that they messed up in the first place.
i DO NOT recommend International Fuel Systems, in Ohio to ANYONE.
i have close to $1000 in this pump, and its still not right, i really wish i would have went to Giles. but at the time i didnt have the money, and didnt think this shop would have charged this much for a basically stock pump. also, it was a lot closer to home than having to send it to Canada. ok, sorry about going off, i am done ***ing now.
have you got the fmic on it now?
i would love to more pics and in car out car vids...lol
i know its alot to ask but...i need a fix for now lol
just got the needed couplers for FMIC on Friday, had a bad snow storm this weekend, and i am working outside, so i plan to mount monday, i have front all cut out, and mached it up, and have brackets made, i will get more pics and maybe some videos when i get it all on. thanks for the interest, lol, it helps motivate me,
Did they mess with the gov springs? When I tried the gov mod on my 85 TD, mine would hang/try to run away at a lower fuel screw setting than it did before I messed with it. I took it apart a second time to make sure nothing was binding and I had shimmed it right. I ended up installing the springs back stock and I think the car was faster that way. I just backed the WOT stop on the pump all the way out. It pulled strong to 4k rpms, and with as close as the gears were, you really didn't need to rev any higher as you could hit the next gear and be at full boost and in the power band. Just a thought and good luck with it.

i would also love to see what power a true 1.6 (block and head) would make with this level of mods. these mods being i think the perfect combo of power with driveability.
