Hi ppl,
I have 1992 Nissan safari M/T. with TB42 petrol engine currently deadly eating 26 l/100km. I have started my nissan for offroad adventure.
I love nissan safari but NOT engine. I am not specialist but I want to replace my engine to V10TDI twin tubo volkswagens. I think V10TDI engine best diesel engine with low consumptions and great power.
Could you suggest/recommend me any possibilities? And how much costs new V10TDI engine?
Thank you,

ETKA lists for $16,730 jobber cost or $19,406 for non jobber.
best for you to find a wrecked one, but i don't think there are many around...
It'd help to know where in the world you are. I'd be thinking B series cummins, either the 4 or the 6 cyl version would work well in a safari... IF you are in North America. If you're in Europe why not a V6 TDI?? Easy to find over there & they make decent power...
Otherwise I say DO IT!!
ya the V10 TDI is honestly overkill. did you ever see the movie of it pulling a jumbo jet??? 26L/100km sounds more like a hummer or lamborghini...

It was modified with lower gears, tons of weight in the back and tougher rear suspension IIRC. But a jumbo jet is still 700,000+ pounds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls23tHPX8mQthey don't say anything about lower gears... just the tons of weight & extra psi in the tires
Caution Thread hijack in progress...
Has anyone seen or looked into a v6 m-tdi using 6BT 12mm VE?
are the v6's 'pumpe deuse"?or common rail?
The 2.5 V6 is VE (using a VP44), until the C6 A6 (2004 ish) when it went CR. As far as I know they never made a PD V6 because there's no space in the head to get the extra cam stuff in.
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=131414I've always wondered about a v6 tdi swap, after reading through this 28 page (!) thread I would think a v6 m-tdi would have been a wee bit simpler (i get the feeling he wanted it to appear totally stock) & be a beautiful thing in so many vehicles (think v6mtdi Allroad!). 6bt 12mm VE mech pumps are easy to find although the position of the pump front & center on the engine would make fitting the LDA under the hood fun on that Avant & the intake would have to be moved but...
Such a sad thing VW & Audi only sent 4cly tdi's to North America, I'll never understand it.
