As the title says, bit of a random question, but:
I am fitting an AHU into a vanagon in place of a JX, and cant figure out what size bolt to use in the right hand side engine mount. The 4 in the left mount are M8, but the 3 in the right, according to the local VW stealership, are M10 x1.5. I've tried M10 x 1.5 and i've tried M10 x 1, neither are any good. Do I just need to run a tap in my dirty threads, or are they some random size, or m10x1.25 ??..
Any help appreciated, save me buying the wrong size tap!,
Cheers
Is the AHU engine case special in any way beyond being marked "*AHU*"?!.
I think 10x1.5 - but this is (almost) pure guess.
Any pics so I can be sure what you're writing about ?
Hi there,
no, it should be fairly standard. I expect it has the same threads as 1Z, AAZ, JX etc. It's a JX mount i'm trying to bolt to it anyway.
I presume these bolt holes arent used when the engine is in a (rabbit?) golf, so this is maybe why the holes are gunked up. Probably is m10x1.5 as you say, was just hoping to have it confirmed before I buy a tap to clean the threads up with.
I'll try and post up a pic this evening when i get home.
Cheers,
Monkey Phil
My van is up on stands for awhile so I can pull one of those bolts and take in into town today. I'll let you know what size it is when I get back.
I think 10x1.5 - but this is (almost) pure guess.
This be it, good guess!
Just to confirm this is the bracket between the oil filter and the AC/Alt.
yes, thats the bracket i'm thinking of.
Thanks for that guys, thats now one less thing between me and a working van.
Cheers for the help with a random question
