Radiator Question.

Hi everyone,

Not having much luck with my car as of late.

replaced all my brake lines, MC and proportioning valves and took my car out for a test spin and my rad has seemed to develop a crack at the bottom and dumped out the coolant. Joy ! thought it might be the lower rad hose, which I replaced this morning but it was not.

So I need a new rad for this thing, but having problems finding one..

my question is, crappy tire (yes i know) has one in stock that is for non-ac. My car came with AC but I want to know is the rad really different ? My air is not working, nor do I intend to fix it. I kinda need my wheels on the road this week and have no time to wait for an online order.

I've got a couple for cars with AC (tested to be fine). Unfortunately, I'm in the US, and it looks like you're in Canada. If that's NOT the case, and you want a used one, send me a PM.

Otherwise, the non-AC will fit just the same, but may not be rated for the same amount of flow. If you remove your condensor, you should be OK I would suspect. Don't quote me though.

I sucked it up and bought one at Crappy tire.

no one had stock in my area except them. Oh well.

Its the same as whats in my car atm. It woud seem that since the AC stopped working the PO did not put in the rad for AC which brings me to another question.

The top rad hose is different for models with AC then without. The one for AC is a 'Y' hose and splits off to go into the reserve coolant tank.

The Rad that was in my car has a side hose / port that was capped off with a bolt, which I asume is to ment to be hook up to the reserve ? but was not since the top rad hose has that 'Y' ?

So can I just get a top rad house for non-AC and another for that side port on the rad to run to the coolant tank?

Sounds like you have/had a gasser rad. Diesels don't have that nipple on the rad they have the smaller hose off the top rad hose as you mentioned.

You could run it like you suggested but if your current top hose is good then cap off the nipple on the rad and be done.

ok... to be honest I did not really look to see if the new one has that port.

I leave it the way it is and hunt down a new top rad hose. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $100 for that hose from Parts source.

ok i;m back in action.. car is back on the road for the first time in a month !
