2.5 inch pipe
« on: November 24, 2008, 03:28:03 pm »
Soooo.. just got a 2.5 straight pipe put on my 1.6td with the 1.9 down pipe...and its insane loud.    inside the car is ok, not too bad, WOT in 3rd, 4th or 5th is just ridiculous though.

To be honest, haven't noticed much of a performance difference, but the EGT's don't hit 1400 anymore.... on a good pull to 110kmh it will hit 1200 maybe.

Anyways, I've read the other posts, seems that a Magnaflow somewhere in the middle is best for the sound dampening?

Anyone had any citations or tickets for loudness with a setup like this?Im always looking around now for cops... its frustrating because I hear big Mac trucks and other big dual axle diesel trucks that are louder than my car...

The trucks have an exception for noise, and emissions to different levels than we are held to.

53 willys and mine sound really similar.

Both are nice.

Not to loud. I tried the straight pipe deal and went nuts! I've been using Magna flow for years on damn near everything and have had great luck with them.

I dont have a Part# but it has a oval case and 3" inlet/outlets.

The inlet is centered and the outlet is offset.

I've noticed with Magnaflow the sound is greatly reduced if you have an offset/offset vs a center/center.

Thet can be ran in either direction so it doesnt matter if it's a inlet offset/ oulet centerd, they are non directional.

I think this may be the one I have.
3in./3in. 18in. 24in. Part# 11259
