on the belt side of the pump there is a small arrow, can you show me one of a pump that is timed to 1.00/1.05?
asking because my pump looks to be advanced too much but the dial just shows 1.05.
timed now to 0.95 and it seems the engine got more silent but only tomorrow on cold start will check that.
"line and 0" mark on fly match lobes of cam in the closed valve position, pump is also with is marked aligned so no missed timing.
just for piece of mind...
also, what are the specs on valve in the 1.6 mechanical head?
being a n/a that got turbo conversion would the valve adjustment be different that as for n/a?
exactly the same problem... but i have an hydro head ... JR engine...
(desculpa tar a falar em inglês, mas como o fórum é todo em inglês, é so para eles entrerem na conversa.)
dont have a timming gauge, not shure if the rattle is normal at cold start.
when warm sounds like a clock... :?
cumps
Here is the specs from the Bently book. If you find the gaps are off you will need a selection of shims to exchange with the existing shims in the head to get the gap correct. Not an easy job, especially without the special tools.
Good Luck.

Reducing piston thrust from 1.05 to .95 WILL reduce noise. Too far and wont idle smoothly. Economy may go down too
economy is very good,over 1000km a tank.
that was before i backed the timing.
dont know if is noisier in standart but now is a turbo diesel with all gtd stuff.
could be also bad valve adjustment?
