As above guys, just wanting to see if this is only me or a forum wide issue (I dont get it on any other forum I go on)
But if I come on here and browse and post for a bit, then go away for half an hour (close the browser window)
I am logged out by the time I come back??!!!
wtf, Its so annoying!!
is the login timeout set for a really short time or what?
My browse is IE 6 with all updates on Xp pro (all updates) and its a fully healthy system!

Reset your cookies. You will have to relog into every website but it should fix your problem.
Internet Explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools
2. Click on Internet Options
3. On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
4. You may also want to check the box "Delete all offline content"
5. Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the temporary internet files
6. You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that websites have placed on your hard drive.

I have a similar problem: When I log in, the cookies do not appear and although my username appears at the bottom of the page, I have to log in again to use my privileges

. And I never get the cookies unil a new post arrives  .

Just did and it logged me in on first attempt. I'll check later tonight for the cookies. Thanks Vince

NP... cookies are a bit of a bizarre workaround to the anonymous nature of the web and both your browser and this board are programmed to bail if anything looks a bit wonky... erring on the side of caution for security reasons !!
Resetting your cookies takes away any wonkyness that may have crept into your browser's cookie dictionary.

It's gotten worse: Now I can't log-in AT ALL!

Even though my username appears in the ''Who's on line'' section. I deleted everything from my browser's files and the problem persists...Any ideas?

your passwords will get reset if you delete all your browsing history/cookies/cache. if you have a program that does that automatically for you, your passwords won't be saved.

Choppercat,
I took the liberty of packet sniffing all of the TCP/IP traffic between your PC and vwdiesel.net.
The diagram below illustrates the problem.

I used to have the same problem loging in too, but now I just login to see any new pm's even though there are no new ones and it keeps me logged in with no probles.

Ziptar summarized better than I ever could! I just manage to log-in using Spearco's way, Thanks a lot for the tip, hope it works everytime. Now I wish I could spend more time reading new posts and less time figuring-out what's new and what's not. :x
Sorry for highjacking your thread vw4t.
