this guys head gasket would only be economical if it could be re-used, which i doubt... not saying that it is inferior quality though...

unless you run higher then stock boost..then it worth every cent!
I know this is not for everybody VW...but for guys who wanna push the boost and still DD their VW it a great set-up up.
I know lots of guys have had GREAT results with modding the AAZ MLS but I knew for my own personal warm and fuzzy that the custom MLS is worth the double the normal price...

and your still right! I have no clue if these are really high quality gaskets..all I had to go by was his buyer feedback and pics on his site.

ALSO
No you should NEVER reuse a headgasket..

NICE!! I'm soooooo excited to get mine I can hardly wait!!...lol
those are the same two sizes I ordered....if he makes your gaskets from my template(witch I'm sure he will) remember it will have the extra AAZ steam holes drilled in the gaskets..so you can drill the same holes in your head and block too 8)

Is the guy who makes these gaskets web smart?

Invite him to this web page to set up a group buy of your style gasket.

I need a 1 notch for my 1.6TD with the 1.9 head as i pulled that appart again, and my 1.5TD takes a two notch, I think.

but I don't really need any gaskets for myself...mine should be here any day.
if you want to do something like that then sign up for "skype" the link is on gasketstogo.com and talk to John...I'm sure he will work something out with you and the forum members.....I would have done this from the get go..but I could not wait for all the people, money and the rest of the time consuming variables that come with GB's..

I'm sure you could get a lot of guys interested...maybe post a link on vortex in their diesel section too???

I hope not too many of the vortexers get here but I am definately interested in a gasket or 3. I just don't have the money for all I want. Please do let us know what will happen on the group buy.

I did a group buy for the injector shims a while back with Blackboostedtruck.  I supose i could do it again.

Put that puppy in and shoot the coal to it so we can see if it holds up.  Then I'll see about a group buy.

I'm head-gasket-less right now on my 1.6td franken motor.  The Viton I used to make the extra drain hole plug had too high of a durometer and didn't let the head fully seat.  I may start to search out softer Viton and go with the 1.9 metal head gasket insted though.  So fire that puppy up as soon as you can.

Hmmm.
I didn't realize head gaskets were such a huge issue...
I thought metal ones sorta solved the problem.
150$ (is that USD too?) for a one time use head gasket is some serious coin!!! Sweet jesus! I thought 60$CDN for mine was a bit much.
What would the difference be anyways? I really look forward to you getting yours to see what the big fuss is all about. can you imagine if you put it on and messed up and had to REDO it?
taking the head off twice is a 300$ job JUST in head gaskets... 4 times and you're almost at a grand!!!
Suppose the point is that you never have to take it off...

I wonder if a gasket made of some sort of putty would work too... and the surfaces of the block and head were rough to adhere to the putty substance. :P then you run into thickness problems i know...

Good luck man i hope it holds for centuries.

$25CDN is probably the lowest price for the 1.9 MLS gasket...

haha your funny Ed!!
yeah...reliability and power are not cheap....even more so when you are pushing these little engines way past their designed power rating.
my time is money....taking my head off once a year to replace a bad fiber gasket is not for me.
like I said this custom MLS gasket is not for everybody...and yes I do hope it last me a long time!!
I also hope these gaskets are of good quality...
this is not the first time I have been the guinea pig on a new part or idea.....I dont mind.

I guess I could always run less boost!!

    yeah right....

You can search mcmaster-carr's database isolating materials according to their properties.  Makes finding the "perfect" substance a relative breeze.

Andrew

I got the Viton i tried from McMaster.  Thickness & Viton was the issue.  I was going for a thickness that was a little thicker than the one notch gasket, and I think that was the only Viton available.

I'll have to look at it again, maybe go with a different rubber as the only thing it should see is antifreeze.
