My 2000 Jetta has this pissy 300 watt heater glued to the oil pan, does any one up north have a bettey solution for a block heater? seams the engineers did not want to put a frost plug hole in the block to accomadate a coolant heater like 95% of the other cars sold.
Thanks Mark.
PS. still working on my glow plug problem.
I run a similar system on my PassaTDI that I bought at canadian tire. I bought the 1500 watt version and plugged in for 45 min the coolant temp reaches the 2nd bar, instant cabin heat! The system taps into the oil cooler lines and naturally circulates. The unit I have does not have a check valve built in.
Have a Frost Heater in our 96 Passat 1Z... Works GREAT. Tight fit though.... Lol, actually 2nd one to install the 1Z Passat kit. Biggest problem I had was snapping off a mounting ear and having to metal zip tie it in. lol. But it works great and is pretty subtle.
