T2 vs T3 on a 1.9IDI
« on: November 12, 2008, 07:53:55 pm »
So now that my rebuild is finally starting i just wanted to ask peoples thoughts on what would be best.  Currently the 1.9TD i have has a garrett T2 on it.  Now on my old 1.6TD i had a garrett T3.  MY question is which would be the better choice?  Would it all depend on if i want instant boost vs delayed but epic boost?

And which one would be able to handle 25psi the best?

Some insight from the gurus would be much appreciated :D

I'm no guru but i'd go T3 with a big GTFO exhaust and downpipe. Instant and epic boost.

Blacked out mk2 AAZ Jetta RIP. You are missed.
White 1999.5 ALH Golf 2dr. Low & wide. Rammed off the road RIP.
Blue 2009 CR140 Jetta CBEA/CJAA. Malone stage 2. EGR/DPF/Exhaust-valve deletes. 2.5" open exhaust. ADP Turbo swap. 1-stage nitrous kit. THROWN ROD

Won't happen with a T3.

At 25 pounds I would use the T3 unless you want to replace the T2 in a couple thousand kms
