I don't think mine from Car Quest cost terribly much.

yea the local princess auto here sells them for probably $3-4... i'd buy it and ship it to you if you really can't find anything cheaper...
you need the socket for the arp studs. the driver is for the cheesehead bolts.

I guess it's just the douche bags that work at the parts stores around here because everyone gives me a "what language are you speaking" stare when I ask for "triple square or 12 pointed star drivers." Does anybody have a brand/part # I could take to checkers and point and say, "look this up on the computer and then sell me one moron!"
Sorry for the hostility, just tired of driving every-freaking-where looking for this dang thing!

I think you're too far away for me to ship you mine, even for free because of shipping.
I bought mine at KMS tools for 20$ or so. Nice to keep to help out a friend in the future i guess but i have studs now. Let me know if nothing closer comes up.

Try these
PART# 648889
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=PBI&MfrPartNumber=648889
Pretty sure that's the right one, but they said they don't stock anything like that there... i'll try again.
Did you try Napa?
they have the worst offenders at the Napa here, that's the only place I went back in WA because they carried my Royal Purple for my truck, but the guys out here are idiots!!!
going into town tonight, Napa said they have that bit in stock and set aside for me, lets see it it's true
p.s. thanks Dan!

turns out napa DID have it, and it WAS even set aside for me, but it was the kind that's a single bit w/out socket at the end, heat-srunk to the cardboard so I couldn't test fit, and if I opened it, I couldn't return it. A 12mm and an 8mm together was $15! I bought them but went straight to Checkers and gave them the part #648889 to look for the 4 pc set, computer said they had 2 in stock so I made them look for 15 minutes... bought me a 4pc set, sockets attached for $19.99. Now i've got 6, 8, 10, & 12mm triple squares. If one was really shady, you could remove the two staples from the packaging, use the tools, clean them off, re-staple the packing closed and return them after switching to ARP's... but I don't have ARP's yet and probably wouldn't do that... I'll be able to use these for axles and head bolts until I save up for ARP's.
although, I WILL be returning the napa ones tomorrow, unopened.
thanks for all the help guys!

I saw the 6mm one on a VW pump. It wasn't stock though.
The 6 and 10mm are used on various other imports. I've yet to see one on a VW.
I'd pay $45 for a snap-on bit. I've broken my 8mm one a few times.
