My Caddy 1.9TD
« on: July 01, 2005, 10:10:46 am »
Hi all.. I've been reading to forums for some days now, GOOD info  8)

My dailydriver is an Audi A3 TDI (Cat empty, EGR closed) but my background is a carmechanic so I wanted something on which I could get my hand dirty   The only thing I replaced on my A3 in the last 20.000kms are some filters, oil and rear brakepads

So I bought a 1985 caddy 1.6D with lost of rust, bad tyres and some oilleakage 8)

What is already done:
Refurbished starter
Refurbished 65A alternator
Replace wiring from and to battery with >alternator=10mm˛ and + starter 25mm˛ and - 2x 25mm˛ (in advance to my audioproject)
Optima Yellowtop battery
K&N airfilter (is the same as a GTI 16v PL engine, had it laying around)
22mm masterbrakecylinder with GTI 16v Booster
Ventilated 256mm discs with 54mm calipers in front
Reardiscs (scirocco mounts with A3 calipers)
Replaced all wheelbearings
Lowered rear ~200mm front ~50mm
Rear exit exhaust (I already had the tip)
Corrado half-leatherseats
Borbet A 7.5x16 & 9x16 with black spokes and flat hubcovers
Tyres: 195/40R16 & 215/35R16
ATS Cup winterwheels (black with 195/50R15)
Glassrear window (was plastic)
Power windows
Camco alarmsystem (with remote start   )
Rustbusting

and some things I forgot  :D

Things to do:

JR TD 70HP engine
Intercooler
Tuning the JR
Possible RA pump + injectors
60mm DP  & exhaust
Wire shifted TD tranny
Water leaking windscreen
Front heightadjustable schockabsorbers
Further lowering the rear
Front blinkers
Paint

Project update:

I sold the 1.6TD when I had the opportunity to buy a complete crashed mk2 with a 1.9 AAZ, after a few weeks of getting thing right it was time for an intercooler:

Got some elbowhoses at the salvagejard and bought a piece of 57mm pipe to get the IC project going for some test runs, I'm going to replace the elbows with proper hoses and aluminium piping when I've got everything right (got a small prob with the injectionpump)

When the pump is fixed, more fuel will be added  :D
