I'm saying it would be easier and cheaper to build an adapter plate than to source a non-local transmission and the parts necessary for it's service life. The volvo diesels were 6-cylinder engines. They share the bolt pattern of the 5-cylinder engines, but not the 4's.Andrew
Any progress with your motor transplant? Is the transplant recipient a 122? Why not use the Volvo M41 transmission?
Right, that was my impression. No RWD transmissions in the U.S. that will bolt up to the 4 cyl engines prior to the Quattro with the 1.8T.Andrew
I'm also curious about what rpm would be best for crusing at 60 mph. I currently have 26.0" tall tires, 4.56:1 rearend and the fifth gear in the W59 is a .85 ratio. right now it looks like I will be turning 3185 rpm at 60 mph. Are there any recommendations?
