92 Jetta TD vs F150
« on: June 29, 2005, 09:14:35 pm »
At the end of a workday, it occasionaly happens that a little "testing" gets done across the parking lot at my place of work. One of the young employees has a pretty high opinion of his ride, a sharp looking late model 5 litre ford. Another co-worker (who's ridden in my 1.9 powered Jetta) goaded him into a little test.

I got a really good launch, and he was sleeping at the switch. Had him by almost a whole car length before he started gaining on me!!!!! We run out of room at about the 60 mph level, we have to start shutting down. He never did catch me.

Guess why I posted a question about front engine mounts!    Good bite with 195 60R15 tires, a really hard launch. Now I just have to find the time to do the pyrometer/boost guage thing. THere's a 360 powered Dodge in the yard I'm gunnin' fer!

Hope you were fully warmed up...gunning an aluminum-head diesel cold is really, really hard on it. Congrats! Keep killin' them 5-litre Fords--I used to have one, but it was actually a 5-litre Volvo. I used to love killing Mustangs with their own engine--nothing like turning someone's medicine right back on them.

Yup, waited for heat. Wouldn't have been able to get him otherwise, need the heat for boost!
