Seems awful spendy to me.
Drop blkboostedtruck a PM and see if he has anything.

Would be less that that for sure...
I talked to Duane already. Definately a better deal, but I have no way to get up there to pick it up. Anyone want to make the trip for a few hundred bucks? It would cost me 250.00 in Diesel if I drove my Excursion up there
.
I want something low miles, complete, better than stock, and able to be delivered freight.
Any others?
Well considering the E Bay seller wants $350-450.00 for shipping that $250 seems cheap.

Not if I have to lose 3 days of income to do it. Not sure how much your days are worth, but 450.00 is cheap compaired to what it would cost me to drive to Duane's and back....plus little tough/messy to get it inside the back of my excursion.
All in all, the Ebay deal is pretty close to what I would have in Duanes' 1.9 AAZ
I really wish I had more time to tinker and drop parts off at the machine shop, etc. That way I know it is done the way I would do things.
who's to say that the pump on that engine has been re-sealed since the ultra low sulphur diesel??? it could leak in the near future... it's a great bolt-in motor though. everything included!

Do it over a weekend and burn a vacation day.
Your asking for opinions and that's what I'm giving.
I wouldn't buy it. When it comes to a used engine I want to know where it's coming from and a E Bay description doesn't cut it for me.
But hey its your money and it sounds like you have already made up your mind so just buy it.
if your gonna get one from him? get a GTD motor it's a 80hp 1.6TD motor and those i cannot get because thier german only!
i'm working on a deal to where i'm gonna send my motors to mike -w to have them rebuilt! and he would be able to ship them to customers!
i'm still working on some details with it and possibly have a bonafied Giles pump included ?

That would be SO cool!!!!
I'm gonna get a Giles pump one day!
I wouldn't pay $2,100 (is that US too?) for an old engine that likely needs another thousand in it at least to be reliable.
"69,600 miles"
He/she could have said any number they wanted.
You can't (I don't) trust word of mouth in my opinion on mileage, especially on an engine that is out of the vehicle.
My car was apparently "rebuilt" not too long ago and it's obvious that it wasn't now i have it apart.
I don't know what to suggest other than get a new head and rebuild what bottom end you have. (that's exactly what I'm doing)
over bore + pistons and new seals + a head and new pumps (water and oil) is a better idea, in my opinion anyways... you will know that care has gone into it and that you have new equipment.
So long as you do it your self it would be probably on par to buying that engine.
I don't do that for a living like most of the guys on here do but just from my own experience i don't think it would be too costly compared to 2 grand for engine you really know nothing about.
that's my sixpence
(but i know what you mean about time and again i say, i don't know what else to suggest)
I have to agree with smokey eddy, that's way too much for a used engine. There's a seller on ebay, jake4parts, that had a rebuilt JP code hydraulic longblock (seller stated it DID come with oil squirters for piston cooling) for a buy it now price of $1475. I had corresponded with him concerning getting a MF code hydraulic long block and he quoted me the same price. Shipping via freight would have been an additional $250 so it might be worth checking out.
wow ten grand for the TDI 150
thats probably how much they're really worth brand spankin new though... and considering its a marine engine, it will have all the electronics too. one whole package.
