• have a head that came from a 1981 rabbit. Solid lifters and 11 mm bolts. Motor overheated and headgasket went. Head appears to be fine, I placed a flatedge on it and it appears to be pretty flat BUT I'm not a mechanic or a machinist so I suggest you have it checked out first. There are no cracks between the valves like you see on most vw heads. Also needs a stud replaced on the water outlet. Stud sticks up about a quater inch.
