Same here, same here.... I also could never find the time even if I did have the dough.
I really like the sound of a 924 VW TD project though, that may be worth further research, may actually work out very well!!!!

I'm still in hot water with my wife too. I recently spent a big chunk of our firewood money on a set of 16" wheels for the MBZ wagon. I ended up telling her the other wheels were very worn at the lugnuts and it was very unsafe. She knows better, and is still kind of pissed about it.

I guess I can't blame her, smart huh - jepardizing my wife and young children's heat for some nice wheels? I should be ashamed of myself.

know whats kinda sad too. we had a 924 car except for the motor that we got for free. we ended up selling it for 600$

you better get an axe and start choppin! i usually always find free wood!
pallet manufacturers usually have scrap wood they want to give away?

Hey at least you'll all look cool when you go out for a car ride to get warm! And if all else fails start choppin up the furniture.. :lol:

In response to the initial question posted here... a 95 Cavalier sedan w/manual trans is about 2700 lbs The Golf is around 2200 lbs... And a MK2 Jetta I think is around 2500 lbs.. There may be some places to shave some weight off (sound dampening pads and such)

Not sure what kind of weight difference thre would be between the VW and GM drive lines...

A Fiero weighs in at about 2600 lbs but would be more fun to drive....

I really like the idea of an MR2. I know it's very light. The Porsche 914 has a good gear spread for the diesel but it's kinda heavy.

Minis are small but built like Merc Benzs - tanks - I don't know how much they weigh in but got to be more than VWs - I would think!

Mini curb weight is about 2600 lbs....

Chevy Chevette Just under 2000 lbs, Rear Wheel Drive, they're dirty cheap, and you have braggin rights to say, HEY I drive a Vette! :lol:
