Yes, they're quite similar. Maybe the mk4's is longer, but pretty much the same thing.

Got it installed a week or so ago. Worked out pretty well - took about 3 hrs I'd guess... Hardest part was fishing it down the pass. side A-pillar, which is how the factory routes 'em. I went with the amplified type (by Hirschmann), and the reception is quite good.

and you're not going to post pix for the rest of us who still want to know!?
I'm thinking about putting one on my 81 rabbit, but more of a stubby ant than the one shown above.

Okay, okay... I'll try to take a pic tonight & figure out how to get it posted.
Edit: Hmmm... went to the FAQ on posting images. Looks like I need to link to another site where my pics would be stored - is this still correct? If so, anyone know if Snapfish would work? I don't have my own site (though maybe could work on it...) :?

Yes, just do a google picasa account. If you're on a mac you can upload right from iPhoto.

Thanks for the tip. I'll figure out how post a pic or two after I get my car back. It's in the shop for a tranny rebuild but hope to pick it up Saturday. Here's to smoother synchronization and a better final drive ratio! (oh, and a slimmer wallet... )

I'm thinking of doing this too. I don't listen to the radio often but when I do the reception I get is terrible...

Thanks for the compliments... It really isn't too hard. Patience is key, though. The headliner is fragile. I'd allow the better part of an afternoon, to be safe.
Reception is pretty good, definitely better than my half-broken fender antenna. This one is amplified. Make sure you get an amplified (powered) unit. More expensive, perhaps, but better as I understand it.

Bringing this one back from the dead.
Where can you find Hirschmann or any brand amplified roof mounted antennas? I'm tired or not having a radio and just relying on my iPOD and cds.
