I got rid of the computer and put a mechanical pump on my 98 tdi engine.Do I need to change the injectors or will the tdi injectors work?
stock idi pump won't behave properly on a tdi,
the injectors are the same
but why would you want to get rid of a beautifully efficient system?
Mtdi guys do it on conversions and such, not to a perfectly working car :O
it's a suzuki samurai swap
ok, now that makes sense!

take a look around the TDI part of this forum, you will find lots of M-tdi info, and in the FAQ as well
EDIT: I would still use the electronics, simplified to a bare minimum, a lot less hassle involved
It's sad that M-TDI pumps aren't cheap and easy to find, and the information isn't readily available, yet.
I'm not a fan of forcing everyone who wants to work on a TDI engine to buy a VAGCOM.
those who've worked hard testing mTDI pumps have good reason for not sharing the secrets... however, tintin has been so very kind and generous with a lot of his information... but it all boils down to calibrating the injection pump, and the simple backyard mechanic can't do that so easily.
so when are you going to sell TDI pump tops so that people with ECO's and N/A's can turbo their pump???
