Why?
The bottom end isnt the weak link here.
I mean it's cool and all but for $500.00 you could have ALL your internal parts paid for.

Never hurts to have too much insurance. I figure if im going to rebuild the block from top to bottom, and turbo it, it cant hurt.
I should beable to pick that up for about $100 less.
What is or where is the weak link in the 1.6l?

yea.. unless you plan on going above 200 whp, the bottom end holds up real well. instead buy some ARP main & rod studs for a fraction of the cost (it will reduce power robbing flex)
andy2 made a main girdle for his 1.9 beast. if you search hard enough you can find it. it's under his compound thread.

Did you notice the Eurospec Main Bearing Girdles is for I-4 with chain driven oil pumps. Our IDI VW's are not chain driven. Are the TDI flavors ?
