A/C Hoses for Sanden SD 709 Compressor
« on: October 04, 2008, 11:54:22 am »
All,

I am still looking for the two A/C pipes/hoses that connect into the back of the Sanden SD709 A/C compressor.  The part numbers I have are:  253-260-701B and 253-260-708.  The hole in the compressor where these fit is around 18 mm with the center hole hving a taper inside.  This compressor does not have screw-on type fittings. The pipe/hose ends that fit this compressor have no threads. The pipes/hoses are held with a bracket that is attached to the back of compressor by one bolt.   I have this bracket but do not have the two connector hoses.

Some members of the forum call this is the MK3/4 type connector.  If you require a picture give me your email address and I will email them from my aol account where I can include pictures.

With all the people that have taken the A/C off their engines there must be someone out there that has these pieces lying around in the garage.

Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.  Fortunately, I have taken so much time installing the A/C that it has cooled off in Tucson (that means less than 30 degrees C) and probably do not need A/C for my 1988 Vanagon GL with a 1.9TD engine until next spring.

Go to any junkyard and take them off a gasser VW with AC.  The lengths may be a bit different but you can get them with the same single bolt clamping system.

Commuter Boy

Thanks for the suggestion.  Does it need to be around the same year as mine (1988) or is there a much wider range of years and models that used the single bolt clamping systems?  I saw a picture of the older Sanden 504?  and it has threaded connectors so I know years that used that model A/C compressor will not work.

Again thanks for any ideas and assistance.

My experience was from looking around for AC hoses for a '93 passat with that setup, I found them in the MK3 Golfs/Jettas.

I have check out the older VWs in the wrecking yard and have not found the connectors required for the VW Sanden SD 709.  With all the members that have removed A/C from their cars there must be a number of members that have these connectors stored in their garages.

Let me know if you have these available.
