I don't see them either. Thought they were just taking too long to load.
 Is the brake proportioning valve the kind that's mounted in the engine bay or near the rear wheel?

yep, with a spring that pulls on the valve relative to load/stance. it had a number in the casting that didn't return any info

Thanks! Your car looks good. That part number looks correct and Pelican allegedly has stock -- found some old vortex threads on this item too: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/s1-brake-proportoning-valve-identification-rebuild.8989377/  ...apparently a Kelsey Hayes part 86652/rebuild rubber exists. It started leaking again shortly after that post so the valve is permanently? bypassed for even front/rear pressure. Not tracking or autocrossing this thing so skipping the valve doesn't seem too concerning. Seems like a lot of people delete rear brakes on these cars nowadays.

New goals for this car:
-Finally get AC working. The car came with the Sankyo SD-507 dealer installed system and a condenser with a large hole in it. On this dealer installed AC system , the main blower speed knob is rendered on/off only and bypassed for the aftermarket AC fan control, which implements 4 fan speeds utilizing the stock 3 speed-style resistor, while the HVAC valve is still functional. The controls still work and I'm hoping plumbing in a new drier and evaporator will hold a charge. I've got a mk3 condenser with different fittings I'll try to connect first. I've considered sourcing a new OEM condenser for ~$400

-VNT-15. Probably controlled via dawes device, which looks like the simplest solution to implement like this? This is a fully analog vehicle, so no Arduino stuff

Did you use the TDI alternator bracket or the alternator setup from the MK1?
I've heard that with the old sandon AC compressors you can swap the rear plate,
the one with the hoses coming off it.
 And use the rear plate from the MK1.
