the CY should have solid lifters. if your motor has solid lifters you'll be set.

there are no RA/SB mechanical lifters that I know of, but you can convert it, so, not bolt-on but usable.

Gernster where the hell are ya?
In UK, CY was standard block for 82 to 88 AND came in mechanical block and hydraulic. So you may have hydraulic which is what you need

Hi dude, Im in the UK (west yorkshire) and just desperate for a cylinder head!

The guy has given me the casting number:
028103373N

my head is:
068103374g

I'll see if it has solid or hydraulic lifters.

Its a skimmed, pressure tested head, but its a bit pricey fro me (£195)

I could really do woth a cheaper option. There is a full engine in my local scrappies, but he wont split and wants £150 for it.

Anywhere near Skipton?

If the one in the scrappy is available I'd get that. Check to see what killed the car. If a  smashup and engine turns over wth a 19mm socket then it'll be good. Probably good if you look in the coolant and that's clean.

What's wrong with your existing head?

Not too far from Skipton (Huddersfield)

The scrappy motor has done 180k and the guys didnt seem to sure about the engine, although they did say it ran when it came in.

My head has cracked between all 4 valves, but also has a killer stepped crack going up into no2 compression zone, plus its probably warped as I cooked the engine on the motorway, not looking at me guages!

I drove my mk2 Passat up the motorway for 2 miles towing a caravan with no water...head gasket failed and burst the rad pipe Thought water on my windscreen was from passing trucker with overshooting windscreen washers.  Still alive...
