GTD Injector Nozzle info Please
« on: September 23, 2008, 05:57:30 am »
I'm sure this has been discussed, and I searched but didn't come up with too much.

I am curious how the GTD nozzles react to a stock 1.6TD, with the fuel pump at stock settings. Or is it recommended to turn the pump up a little.

Power and mpg increases, if so how much?

And prices are around $125 per nozzle right? For 500 a set they better be worth it.

Never mind I'm an idot, checked a quantity of 4 on Kerma, but didn't realize  that the kit (which includes four) is $125

How about the performance on these nozzles?

I get my GTD nozzles from Smog.  I doubt you'll see any improvement on a stock pump.

I suspect if you compaired fresh GTD nozzles to Fresh standard nozzles, the GTD nozzles will ding your milage slightly.

Tragically, everything is a trade off.

Just a suggestion, but befor you spring for GTD nozzles:

1.) Go 2.5" or bigger on your exhaust, from turbo to exit.

2.) Poke a hole in you exhaust manifold and install an EGT sensor, preferably from Aircraft Spruce.

3.) Remove the adjusting screw from the blow off valve.   Drop a smaller screw down adjustment hole, put the adjusting screw back in and snug it down.
Leave the fuel screw alone.  Turn the LDA pin incrimentally to the steeper profile until you get the performance/egt you desire.  Back out the high speed throttle stop (Governor screw) and re adjust the throttle cable for more fun.

4.) install the GTD nozzles.

well that was pretty much what I was looking for, but I'm more looking for a mileage increase, so I'll probably stick with the stock nozzle when my injectors get rebuilt.

stock are fine, but you want new ones anyway.
nozzles don't last forever, even vw says they are to be replaced, like an air filter ;)
