Crazy ideas or do they make sense???

Right, i've been thinking.......

Would i gain anything on my 1.6 GTD by converting over to using the ko3 from the 20vt engine?? I know they are good for 180bhp on a petrol engine and spool really well so would it be usable for around 120bhp on my 1.6GTD??? Obviously a manifold would need to be made but that is not a problem for me :o)

If the above is not a good idea then how about a garrett t25 on the cast manifolds available on ebay?? I'd then use a G60 inlet manifold without a throttle butterfly as the long runners would surely be an improvement over the stock inlet manifold????

What do you guys think??

Gregg :o)

using gasser turbo's on diesels isn't a good idea.  they're meant to give boost at much higher rpm's.

if your goal is 120 hp then get a good intercooler and make sure it has lots of airflow to it, turn up the pump and away you go with the stock turbo.  bigger exhaust will reduce egt's.

if you want max boost at lower rpm's, look for a K03 off of a 1.9 or 1.9TDI (early TDI as the VNT version requires a bit more work to adapt)
