I'm thinking of putting a 1.6TD into my 81 Dasher, and I'm wondering if the Jetta style exhaust manifold/turbo will fit, or whether I'll have to hunt up a Quantum setup for it. Anybody done this?

My 1980 Dasher wagon has a 1983 Quantum 1.6L TD swapped in. Never test-fitted the transverse manifold and turbo. If you can get the Quantum parts, the swap is straightforward.

Typ89 Audis have turbo mounted like transverse models. I bet it fit same in Dasher too.

I test-fitted a K03 turbo and manifold from a transverse engine in the Fox when I started putting the diesel in. It fits, it cleared the body and frame... but routing the intake piping to the compressor inlet was going to be interesting, trying to clear the back of the AC compressor and alternator.

Might have the same problems.
