Giles can get the proper OEM seal kit for pretty much any turbo and can rebalance it afterwards too

Yeah, balancing afterwards wouldn't be cost effective for you guys because of shipping costs. The actual cost of a kit varies, send Giles a PM. you can ask him for a 360 degree bearing kit as well. I know we can get them for some VW turbos, not sure about the K24 though

I already got in touch with some Portuguese turbo repair shops and they ask about 50€ for calibration(balancing) alone. (not bad at all :D)
oddly they want the complete turbo to do it... :?

they have the repair kits, but they charge about twice what I saw on ebay, plus they don't disclose what kit it is.
I prefer to do it wrong myself to not knowing what was done (and pay a lot for it)

50€ sounds about right for balancing.

Send Giles a PM, we'll see what we can get and them mail it to you and then get it balanced at the local place. Win win :)

http://www.iberoturbo.com/

but I recall reading that if we assemble everything as it was it doesn't loose balance. that is if it was balanced before.

for 50€ I won't risk it

For how quickly a turbo spins, even being of just a slight light bit is going to make a big difference. It'll wear the turbo out faster, and in a worst case scenerio it could break and ruin your engine if pieces of the turbine gets into your engine.
